I'm a bit late to this thread but I have a Gryphon Extreme that has worked flawlessly on my Rave ENV and is currently not in use. Mine has the pin-flag switch and the remote LED.

    ---And, it looks cool too.

I'd give it a miss Lee, the Gryphon appears to be a good unit and cheaper

Never used the SG but have Gryphon regs, bec's etc on all my helis and not had a single problem with any of them, their customer service is also very good.

Plus, I'm sure Gryphon pay towards model parts in the event of a crashed caused by one of their products. Could be wrong on that though.

I heard the same (from Heathy), but as I said then, the one we had fail at our field was met with "we'll repair the Quasar" from Gryphon. It fried all 4 servos and a Skookum 720BE with GPS. It was on the bench when it failed, or I reckon he'd have jacked the hobby in altogether.

They didn't even want to replace the unit, despite it being only a few weeks old with less than 5 setup flights on it. He insisted, and got a new unit from Gryphon, Raj replaced his servos, and Skookum fixed his FBL for about £15. Fortunately the GPS was unaffected.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Interesting stuff, seems both manufacturers have had problems on their units. Hopefully these are isolated instances because at 110 quid for a reg id be pretty fuming if it downed a model. Its not just the cost but also the time and efforts we put in to building/tweaking these models. You never gonna get that back.
Ah well, guess we'll see what the new SG ones like as itll arrive tomorrow
I think ill stick a meter on it out the box before i install it on my heli

Yep! This is the video that Scott Grey didn't really like me posting.
He asked me to pull this after sending him an email regarding the failures.
Didn't offer to crash the cash with the repair bill so it's staying on YouTube.

Same failure as with the first one.

Ok ive been given the chance to compare the Gryphon Extreme with the SG reactor HVX that i have just purchased. Courtsey of Sheryl (Trillian).
Sheryl is going to send me a spare Gryphon Extreme that she has lying around so that i can do a comparison and hopefully answer my own questions. Who knows i might even learn something along the way doing this.
The plan is to fit the Gryphon to my Trex 700N which will replace an ElyQ dual reg thats been n there for a couple years. The SG Reactor HVX will be fitted to my 600n DFC as previous mentioned in the thread.
Hopefully we can see which unit has the best features and which unit works best or is more reliable one.
There will then hopefully be some descent information for people researching these in the future.

I would not be concerned at all. I have been running two of the SG units for years and so have many others in our club also and nobody has ever had an issue.
