  • Hex Start Adapters

Does anyone know of a brand of Hex start adapter that is long. I have a Quick UK one and the hex section is only six inches long but i need one about 9 or 10 inches so the starter cup is above the head when in place. I cannot angle it enough to clear as the start adapter passes through the swashplate elevator control which is only a small opening and rubs if even a shallow angle is applied. I have checked the web but have not found the info i need.

    Thanks all.

    Phil.

    The Nuts

    1-S2676 : Hexagonal Rod SW6 180mm
Replacement Hex shaft only for the Robbe No-Load Starter extension S1387.

    Price: £3.83 £4.50 Including VAT at 17.5%

If the rod is removable this is the one to buy..

If you need the whole start shaft get this.. S1387 expensive yes but no other start shaft matches it's longevity and reliability and if used parallel side down it wont strip out start couplings

      Start shaft

Thanks for that but it is only 30mm longer than mine and 180mm is close to 7 inches, so too short i'm afraid.

I bought two 200mm lengths of stainless steel 6mm hex bar from a steel stockholder a while back - that's 4 starter shafts (each one turned each way around). I like them because the hex contact end is plain, and not a ball, so you get a more positive mate between the shaft and the starter coupling.

They were a couple of quid, and could have been supplied in any length I specified.

Do a web search for small dimension stainless steel stockholders in your area, give em a ring and offer them a couple of quid cash for some off-cuts.

          Phil,
Thats the shaft itself..The complete Robbe S1387 is 11" overall inc the one way.

You could also use the ball end if necessary allowing you to tilt the shaft but it does wear out the couplings..the Robbe shaft has a ball end one..parallel the other giving you the option

If your stuck you can buy drill depth rod gauge hex from a Builders Merchant.

Your kidding me up here ..

But that does sound like a very good option indeed..

Ultimate Bling... I can now have a shiny stainless steel shaft in my Robbe
