  • 450X Stripped Main Gear

    Hello All,
Stripped the main gear on my 450X, - is there usually a cause for this or is it just wear n tear, heli has done 130 flights, I have a spare but was wondering if I should also replace other parts while at it - bearings/belt ??

    Thanks
    Paul

Main gears will strip if the mesh is poor for some reason.
I stripped the main gear on my 450x when pulling out of a loop. There was excessive play in the motor top bearing. After mine hit the dirt I googled and found that this is a known issue with the stock motor. The inner bearing race doesn't grip the shaft but wears it out instead unless you loctite it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZIa67Aa3eQ
Check the can on your motor, can you move the pinion away from the main gear just by rocking the can?
