  • How Many Batteries?

    Hello All,

Just back home after putting all my 7 batteries through the 450x in about an hour n half and was wondering just how many batteries I should end up with, 10 seems about right, any more and some would not get used regular enough, seems sensible to put the older batteries to use first - meaning too many newer ones would be waiting for a run. Am also itching to maybe get a trex 500 when I am a bit better with the 450 which would mean 2 x lots of different batteries. How many do you tend to have for each machine.

    Thanks
    Paul

Hi, is that 6s, and if so would 2 x 3s be just as good or could that couse problems in finding matched pairs.

I've got 4 for the 450, two for the 550 (They're too big for the 700) , and three pairs for the 700 which can be split for more flights on the 550

Plus now i've got a generator so i don't have to go home when all my packs are used

Yes 6S 3000s for the 500, mostly Turnigy Blues.
Two batts 3S 3000 should be OK in series, but if one is weak and the other strong, you could knacker the weak one.
Mine are all puffed like balloons, but still balance OK and give me four and a half minutes of sport / very mild 3D flying.

I tend to have at least 4 packs each model I have. Currently have 7 on the 500, 5 for the 550, 4 for the 7hv, 4 for the Esp with the 6hv shared. I will purchase a dedicated packs for the 6hv soon. I also have a eu10i but since I live 5mins away from flying field, I bring fully charged packs ready to fly.

the fewer the better if you got charging facilities as they will degrade over time I currently run my 3 700s on 3 sticks - perfectly fine ... I used to have loads and loads of packs realising that I charge all and only fly them for a single time a day - they surely dont get better over time - so I reduced my packs to a comfortable amount and run them as I stole them ...

2 packs (or sets of packs for 12s) per model, and a generator to charge at the field.

As I usually fly two or three helis on a trip to the field, I could pretty much fly all day if I wanted to. In practice, I average just 6 flights a day due to too much yacking and coffee drinking.

Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I have 6 for the 500Pro and 4 sticks for the Goblin 700. This gives me a good afternoon of flying at the field.

I have 10 6s packs for my 600 pro which make up 5 flight packs.

I wish when I'd started flying, I'd have gone down the 500, 550 then 700. I'd like a 700 but my packs are a bit small for one so it'd be an expensive purchase.

As others have said if you can share batteries between models it's good.

6 packs that are shared between the logo and TDR. I use a leisure battery which gives me another 6 charges

I have got 18 6s 5000 packs. All permanently strapped to their respective battery trays. Which equates to 9 flights at the field before charging. I only fly 700 or larger sized machines, so i have 3 flights with each model before i need to charge.

I have 9 flights at the field as a minimum, so i never come home with charged packs. I prefer to do my charging at home and just fly at the field.
