How is top pilots like bert pulling off a mc Doodle without getting over gain on the tail making it wag and strip gears ?

do you have to run lower gains or a switch to switch from higher to lower gains to prevent it ?

let me know what you all think

Come down nose or tail first fast and then level of and go zero pitch really quickly so you get massive overspeed.

Ask Mattie Lodge to do a video

I did some the other weekend but my overspeed was no where near as high lol.

I've heard that some of the top pilots zig zag down towards the ground to try and build up extra head speed as the hrli descents before pulling back.

Does anyone do that or was someone pulling my leg?

yes they zig zag down to build up speed then flatten it out going to 0 pitch adding negative wil lspeed them more but what i want to know is how people are managing to pull them off without high tail gain wag which can cause tail gears to strip

I tried one last night with the 550

Granted it ended up 50ft from the ground but I got plenty of overspeed it sounded great

Hi gaza, I think you are suggesting that the resultant overspeed leads to an increase in tail blade speed and hence the tail gain becomes 'inaccurate' momentarily for that period of greater headspeed? I have to say that whenever I toy with a big tailslide to overspeed I have not noticed any problems with the tail gains or any wag. I find that the exit from a mcdougal (I believe thats the correct term but happy to be corrected) pretty quickly uses that excess headspeed up and brings you back to normal speed so it is merely a moment that the heli spends at overspeed. Maybe you are not pulling out sharply enough, or perhaps you are running your tail gains a little too high and this is the move that shows that up? I hope a more experienced pilot chips in here and can clarify a little but for now thats some food for thought?
