What would YOU do ?

Dudes , here's one for ya , on Monday my 700e went in due to a castle creations onboard fire , this has gone back to be checked to see if it's my fault or not , but that's not the question in the crash , it killed all 3 cyclic servos , cooked the rec n quantum bec and bent some bits n buggered the canopy , now enter the goblin 500 Wednesday , tonight it hit the deck flat out , bust all 3 cyclics , frame , canopy damaged , links , receiver , undercart , blades . Now here's the question , which would you put back in the air , the 700 rex or 500 goblin ? Cos the wife is very , errr , peed off with me n this hobby , so need to work on one of my bust two , sling some thoughts please . Ady

If it were me the 700 would be the choice, shame 2 in, in a matter of days, unlucky Ady. Leccys definitely sustain more damage in a crash than nitro, unfortunately

Dam thats a pretty rubbish week by any standards. Not going to comment on the Castle as everyone will have there own opinion on that, don't know how you keep going Ady! Maybe a simulator would please the wife....if you know what I mean.

Only if you're unlucky Nick, my feeling is that the weight is concentrated so centrally and the lack of an engine to brace the frames leads to more damage than nitro. Nitros tend to be lighter and get lighter as the flight goes on so don't carry the weight forward as leccy does

That's a serious drag Ady! Especially to have an ESC fire. My one (and hopefully only) ESC fire I got off very light, very little damage, but that was partly due to being in a hover and being fairly close so I could sprint over there and pull the damn thing off the airframe before everything went up. (This was a Hobbywing ESC BTW).

I suppose the only way I could answer the question is to ask which one you liked flying the most? I have never had a desire to have a Goblin 500 myself.

And leckys generally are more powerful, fly faster, change direction faster and hit the ground harder as well.

Heavy landing on the dfc 700 pro was cracking frames!

I'd salvage and sell of the parts from the Goblin and associated electronics etc. I'd buy a used airframe to fix up the 700. Replace electronics with Kontronik and fly at 80% skill capacity for a while to try and break the cycle of crashing rebuilding and so on.
