I can not see it being too long before you need a special license and some other kind of insurance to fly these things, what with there being more and more incidents occurring more frequently it's only a matter of time before the Civil Aviation Authority will bring in some kind of law. It seems that the minority will spoil it for the majority as always.

Part of the problem with these quads is the very fact that it takes no skill to fly them, so any dufuss can power one up and off they go, hence the large percentage of completely irresponsible users.

Lets hope the same (cheap) technology does not find its way onto proper rc helicopters, for a while at least (it certainly will eventually).
