  • Which autopilot?

    Maybe in wrong section...
    Im looking for an auto pilot for a trex 600/500. for return to home, maybe 4 way point etc
    Ive seen align aps, arkbird, ardupilot?
    I have no info on these maybe there are more? are they any good? ones to avoid, support etc...anyone with experience etc

    The only one I know of that works with any reliability is the Skookum 720 with GPS. There is a DJI unit that may OK but I have no experience of it.

    Most of them will autopilot your 500/600 into a crash quite quickly. :-)

      For that sort of thing you might be better looking at the dji wookong H controller. The ones for std helis are very expensive. The multi wii, ardu pilot and pix hawk are open source projects so you never no just what your getting.

          I set one up for a buddy last year. As luck would have it, I have the heli back (700 DFC HV) to change out the TX to a DX18. I haven't gotten back into the APS setup yet with this new TX. I did get the 3GX setup, but haven't had a chance to test fly it. When I originally set it up, it worked as advertised, no fly aways or any other strange phenomena. With the APS engaged, it was very stable in flight.

          If you want to do any acro, though, it can't handle that.
