  • Generator Any Thoughts?.. Clarke IG1000

Sorry - another thread on generators.. Does anyone have any dealings or experience with this model? Clarke IG1000
I have seen reviews on amazon and it's all good.. and it's around £300 which is even better.
Clarke IG1000 1kW Inverter Generator - Machine Mart

Don't say Honda or Kipor because unfortunately, my friend and I just cannot stretch to that price point. The Kiam that someone on here mentioned looks good but..well, the retail price of that might be doable (£350 I believe)
but I want to concentrate on this generator for now.

It will be used by my friend and I and we both have a PL8 (running off a server PSU 24v) Mainly to charge our 2x 6s 5000mah Turnigy.

Will it handle 2c load for the pair of 6s?
I only have 3 pairs of batteries and my friend has 2 pairs. We both fly trex 700e

        Hi Mate,
Look for a second hand Kipor gen,I picked a hardly used Kipor ig2000 up of eBay for under £250 they may not be as good as a Honda but I have not had a problem with mine, its been reliable and is fairly quiet

As said. I paid £240 for a used (and in good nick) Kipor IG1000 and it's been perfect. Mines the 89db model and it's really not anywhere near as loud as some would have you believe

Well like the last thread your options are:

Buy cheap and hope you get lucky.
Buy middle of the range with a kipor which have the thumbs up from myself and other members.
Buy a top end honda with a side order of braging rights.

            Take your pick ;-)

Thanks.. I'll stay clear of this then. For what it's worth.. this Clarke generator was NOT my choice!

Those of you who purchased 2nd hand (Kipor/Honda), what's the risk? Are they easy/cheap to repair if they are faulty or something?

I know 7 people with honda's who have never had an issue, had my one 2 years with zero issues, had a smaller honda for 18 months with zero issues.

Slowly seeing a few peeps using kipour with zero issues but they have no bragging rights cos its not a honda

Also if you go for the Kipor dont buy the red bodied ones! As these dont generate a true sine wave only a modified sine wave. Where as the yellows are true sine wave.

I've got one and I find it fab, I'll be totally honest when I put 4-6 5000's on it does have a little winge, but 4 3000's no probs. starts first time and is handy size.

i don't use it for charging lipos but the honda i inherited off the old man has always worked very well
it does however like a drop of oil if you use anything other than honda's own branded oil
