  • 550e lost in the post

Could I ask for people to keep an eye open for a 550e airframe popping up for sale on other websites. Made the mistake of posting a model to a member on here who is waiting patiently for it to arrive. I asked for it to be sent tracked, but she sent it 1st class recorded and I didn't notice. That was nearly a week ago, so looks like its gone and I will have to refund the member his money. Tried ringing around Royal mail, but not interested.

I was not happy that it was left on the counter with other parcels, but I can't even prove that it was collected from the post office, Royal mail don't want to know. Personally I think someone has seen the big box and had it away.

Model was a V2 with a DFC head, Talon ESC mounted on the side with extension wires running to the motor, Fusano 2mm side frames, 600M motor with the standard canopy. It did have metal thumb screws for the canopy. Also had an ACE 606n tail servo which are not that common. Also had ther silver V2 tail.

I've already resided to the fact that I have probably lost the money as you are not covered for this type of postage, but it just can't disappear..........some bugger must have it.

Thanks again to the chap on here giving it a bit of time to hopefully turn up.

    Regards,
    Simon

Bad news Simon. Dan's a great guy and as you say he's a patient chap as well. He's not had much luck with helis in the last couple weeks with his Ballistick smashed up once and then written off on its rebuild test flight and now the 550's gone AWOL.
Hope it turns up mate, good luck.

All I can do is give him his all his money back, but I know he wanted the 550e which was immaculate. I can't do anything else, but I'm not going to make him wait 15 days, which is when I will get up to 50 quid back as compensation. What a joke, but unfortunately my mistake for not checking what the woman was doing.
      Cheers,
      Simon

That's really a drag I had three things go missing late last year (I was the buyer on these). All small stuff fortunately. One of them we got reimbursed by RM much to my surprise and a credit to the seller for determination, the other I just got ripped and the seller couldn't be bother :-( The third one was an order from a shop for which I was credited on my next order.

But for many years and hundreds of parcels I had no problems, then suddenly it has changed and the reliability has taken a dive.

One thing that's slightly annoying at my local post office is that they don't provide a certificate of posting unless you ask for it (this is separate from the receipt that just says you paid x amount of postage). I always have to ask and on the one hand I suppose it's that extra few seconds of work on their part to print the receipt as proof of posting if they don't have to but the cynical side of me wonders if they actually try not to. Oh well.

--- just a thought, if it was 1st class recorded then they'll have a confirmation if it was delivered and a signature, so they will know where it went when / if it gets delivered. If it doesn't get delivered then surely they can trace the route where anything goes to a certain postcode. And in theory if it cannot be delivered and is 'in the system' it should be returned to the sender.

Royal Mail won't even look at the case until 10 days after posting, you should be able to claim some money back although not all of it. It may have got lost in the system and might turn up.

I've been told 15 days, but after the service I was given today I'm not overly impressed. If they have no idea where the parcel is, why scan the barcode on the label? I asked to see if the security tapes at the post office could be checked to see if someone had taken the box from the pile left on the counter...........I will let you guess the response I got !!

The chap will have waited 10 days by Friday. If it turns up after then, I'm sure he will let me know to sort things out.
              Cheers,

Hope it turns up as not good to lose out on it, Never post a model RM, just far too expensive, I use parcelpete or parcel2go & can drop off at centres

What really gets on my nerves is they charge you more for insurance, why ?? Do I take out insurance when I get a plumber in to fix a pipe....no ! It's a con.

I always use interparcel.com to send any large boxes now, it costs around £6.75 for a 600 Heli sized box and you can add extra insurance for about £2.00, it also includes tracking and they send you a text to your mobile phone once it has been delivered, you can't beat it for the money.

Rest assured that Dan is as honest as the day is long Simon. If it were to turn up he'd contact you and let you know, I'm certain of that.

Quick update Simon, Dan has just called in the local sorting office and apparently they have several people complaining of missing parcels! They told him it was due to the bank holiday back log, so maybe there's still a bit of hope it will arrive.

I certainly hope that the parcel will be delivered and noone will have to take a hard hit on that one.
I do not know what has happened to Royal Mail lately, but I have sold a Canon lens on ebay in January 2013, luckily it was a bit oldish and not worth more than 80£.
I have sent it to the seller using Next Day Special Tracked delivery and guess what, it got lost, but the best part of it that I was chasing RM for over a year to get my money back from the insurance and I still don't have it. I have given up on it long ago, as their customer service reps are not even interested in the case anymore. Sad days .

                            Hi Simon
I believe you can demand to see the security tapes under the data protection act freedom of information request and they can only charge a minimal fixed fee (set by the government) definitely the bit showing you in the post office which will at least show if it was taken behind the counter and sore you paying for postage etc. The other thing is they will have to block out the heads of everyone else which will cost them a fortune so they may reach a deal and give you more compensation in exchange for not with drawing your request. A comedian did this to a bank a few years back walked wondered around smiled at the camera and walked out. He did it everyday for a week and then requested a copy of the footage. They offered him £3000 to withdraw his request.
