  • Milton Keynes grass roots

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what sort of flying standard is generally needed to compete in the MK grass roots competition?

    Cheers.

Have you got a vid of your flying?

I think the line is drawn at inverted piro circuits now, but if your piro flipping across the sky the other competitors will let you know.

Generally I'd say if you can flip loop roll and fly around comfortably then your fine for grass roots.

    Here's some vids for you

As Joe says Gaz, take a look at the sets, if you can comfortably put together 5 that you can do, on top of that a freestyle flight of you rocking your stuff that'll do. Sustained chaos, piroetting manouevres will be frowned upon, the judges are looking for control and a variety of moves

Hmmmm...I can only fly backwards and inverted in straight lines! The guy doing that freestyle video I a heck of a lot better than I am!

My flying style is very "f3c-ish" if you know what I mean? I tend to go for large loops, Cuban eights and I spent a lot of time trying to do very slow figure eights etc. Certainly none of the piroueting constantly type of stuff.

Next time I'm up the field I'll get somebody to video me flying.

Humm when I first entered you were excluded for a piro circuit the right way up , now its a sustained Chaos !!!!!!! lol
The world moves on , but I stay still :-P..............
seriously its all about the fun , you need to be safe , so I would say you at least need to be doing inverted circuits at your home field to be at the lower end of the field, but its an awesome event , see you there :-)
Don't panic I am deemed too good to compete (loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool) so I will just be annoying the locals :-P

              set moves linky tingy

Maybe sustained chaos was the wrong manouevre to relate to, but I did mention piro moves in general. I put a piro circuit in my freestyle but I think if it had been a piro circuit morphing from upright to inverted with a reversal they would have took me by me ear and something along the lines of on your bike mate would have been heard from the judges.

another tip is dont do a 6minute 3minute freestyle, the judges tent to go off for a burger
                        All the best

If you were watching Ant Halls flight he was head and shoulders above the rest of the flyers by a long way.

Here is my attempt at free style from last year

                            http://youtu.be/C8GE2cdG-EQ

This was my first ever crack at a comp and found it really enjoyable, would recommend it to anyone.

Nose down wall and four point tick tocks seem to go down well!!!
