    Would be really helpful if someone with a nitro model and using vbar governor could just try something for me.
    Just need to know if at 100% throttle in idle 2 on the bench does your carb open fully or stop at around 80-90% open? Just had a reply on Helifreak saying this is normal but I certainly wasn't getting full throttle at the field either and the engine wasn't being governed also got no head speed change from idle 1-2. Tried different sensors which made no difference.

    I used this setup advice from rctitin and it was perfect.

    After spending well over 6hrs reading and searching for help with this, I stumbled over this set of instructions on another forum. I followed it and I'm glad to say that it worked perfectly for me. (Bench test anyway, not flown it yet!)<br />

    To start with, you need a pushrod the same length as the servo horn centre to throttle barrel centre, and both arms the same length. Now I mounted the servo horn with the stick at mid stick, and the throttle barrel on its mid open marker, with the arms 90deg to the pushrod.<br />

    So, here it is, hope others can benefit from this, or chip in with other tips to help us all out.<br />

    So, to get started, make sure that your radio's throttle channel is calibrated on the vbar so that you get -100/100. Once you have that set, go to the gov1 screen and pick &quot;Nitro combined mode&quot; and then press Reset.<br />

    In my setup (DX8), my channel selection is CH1 for the top drop down, and I connected the throttle servo to CH4. Make sure your RPM sensor is connected as well.<br />

    That's it for this screen... just verify that when you move throttle (setup a 0/25/50/75/100 Normal curve for now) that the top number moves as well.<br />

    Go to the second tab. For the gear settings, put in your numbers... I run stock 700N gearing, so I have max headspeed at 1950 and 8.2 gear ratio. I also have autorotation bailout checked. IT WORKS great.<br />

    Ok, now the fun part. On the motor off adjustment, enter -115. For the motor on adjustment, enter 70 (we'll adjust this later). Now click on the collective control checkbox and go to low stick.<br />

    Alright, at this point, your servo should move to low point and you are ready to mount your linkage to the carb horn. The link length should be the distance between the centers of the servo horn screw and the carb horn screw.<br />

    Close your carb fully and you want to mount the linkage such that at this point, the carb horn is parallel to the servo horn and the carb is closed. Once you get it there, tighten the screw to the carb horn to lock it in this position.<br />

    Now, slowly raise your throttle and it should start opening up the carb until it reaches the 70 mark you previously set. At this point, the carb will most likely not be open all the way...just slowly raise that 70 until it opens fully and you're not binding. Mine ended up at 88.<br />

    Once you get full travel, you're done with this step. Just verify that at low stick the carb is fully closed and at high stick it is fully open. That's it. Uncheck collective control now.<br />

    Next, we're going to program the radio. Reset your normal throttle curve and set a flat curve of 4% across. ID1 to 97% and ID2 to 100%. Set TH curve of around 8%.<br />

    Ok, the goal here is that the Normal curve is going to be used for starting the engine. So after setting these curves, you may need to play around a little with the percentages so you can get the engine started reliably. ID1 and ID2 are your flight modes... ID1 will give you 97% of your requested headspeed... so you see how to adjust that. ID2 will attempt to give you your max headspeed.<br />

    For bailout, the vbar needs a &quot;window&quot; that is higher than the Normal curve so that it knows you're not in Normal, but rather in TH. Otherwise, just like an electric, it would give you a soft start again when you flick out of TH... In my case, with my DX8, 8% was the lowest I could go on TH for bailout to work. If I set it to 7.5%, TH would reset the vbar's bailout and I would not get a fast recovery. You'll need to play around with that value to see what the lowest setting will be... just know it will be higher than idle.<br />

    Also, if you have silver vbar, I noticed that it will not arm bailout on the bench... you have to actually have the RPM sensor sending it the speed. On my nitros with blue vbar, the bailout can be programmed on the bench. I contacted MrMel about it and he said that the way it works with the silver vbar is the way it should be... go figure.<br />

    Anyway, I think that's about it. Oh, don't forget a kill switch! I used the trainer button on my DX8 and programmed it for throttle cut. As soon as you hit it, the vbar moves the throttle to the -115 position and your engine is dead. Works great!<br/>
