Suggestions for micro cp heli

This is an area I've totally avoided in the past but I am thinking of getting a micro cp heli for use indoors or the garden for pure sticktime to help learn basic manoeuvres that I am trying to nail down like piro right way up and inverted stuff,just pure orientation stuff so I don't need mega power but something that has a bit of stability over bumble bee type character would be better,would be using DX9 so I suppose Blade would be an obvious choice but know nothing about this class of model.

This is just for pure extra sticktime to complement my models I use at the field as I just don't do simulators.

Any info good or bad appreciated.

I have the MCPX BL as you know Chris. I love that thing! Takes some time to get used to it but worth it in the end as it's so much fun. Saying that, if it's piro practice you want then I'd lean more towards the 130x. This performs much more like a bigger heli, but won't crash as well as the MCPX.

I use a stock nano for hardcore living room orientation practice…. I love it for just that. I just pop into a hover and practice piro's in both directions over and over again. Upright and inverted. It really drills it into you. Crashes extremely well in the living room setting too. Unbreakable for me it seems… if your quick with TH

However, i do not fly mine outside. So not really sure how well it will handle a breeze

But for indoor orientation practice it is fantastic. It does get away from you pretty quick if you let it…. so it takes fine skill to be accurate in a tight space with it… All micros will get away from you quick if you let em though.

I personally feel for indoor flying there is nothing better than the Nano. Nothing is trouble or quirk free… but in my experience it is the best of the bunch for my needs anyway. I do not demand a micro to be a 3d monster…. although it flips and rolls great so transitions to inverted are very easy with a gentle touch. I just use em to really hammer orientations into my brain. Good for collective management skills also.

Hey Buddy.

Having had an MCPX and Blade 130X in the past and now the Trex 150, I'd go with the T150. Ok, I fly Align so it can be assumed I'd say this, but in all honesty the little 150 has got over it's initial teething troubles and matured into a nice little tool.

The allure of the 130X is the tail being a proper tail rotor if you like, but it's plastered all over the net that a few crashes can soon cause problems that take time to trace on the odd occasion. I was lucky in that I didn't crash my 130X enough to cause any real damage, same with my 150 now, but for 3D flying the T150 does feel better I think. The 130X seemed very stable, I almost felt it wanted to right itself to either upright or inverted flight when I was doing manouvers with it and sit there.

Essentially I think they all do quite well for their size, you just have to take your pick and weigh up the pro's and cons to all designs.

This has supprised me Chris! but as Pete said the 130X would be better for what you want out of it, might even get another one myself

My thoughts :

Align 150 : Lots of teething problems. About the same size as the mCPX/BL - smaller than a 130X. Would need a satellite to bind to a DX9. Expensive compared to both 130x and mcpx.
130X : Flies much bigger than its size. More like a 450 than a micro. When it's working, it's fantastic. When it goes wrong - it's usually the torque tube gears, and wow, they're fiddly!
MCPX/BL : Bonkers power, cheap to buy, very resilient. It's like a dragonfly on speed!

Personally, I prefer the 130x and I've learnt to avoid tail strikes too much. The tail gears are fiddly, but very cheap to replace. Bigger than a 150 and less expensive. Also doesn't need a satellite (an extra £20 for Spektrum users).
