  • Hitec 5065MG / 65MG Servo arms

Well I had a little crash yesterday and I'm a little annoyed with the cost of repair for what little damage was done. also all the gears in my cyclic servos have all been stripped.. Most people with the hitec 65MG / 5065MG servos often report these servos to be quite tough in crashes and rarly strip?

I'm currently using the hitec servo arms that came with the servos, these are plastic but are quite thick. I'm wondering if theres any alternative servo arms that fit and will snap in a crash rather than wreck all the gears again?

    Anyone have any suggestions?

This hobby feels more like a money pit atm!

Used regular 65mgs on fb helis & rarely damaged them. Going onto fbl with 5065mgs-I've toasted four up to now. its DFC I'm afraid. DFC means "direct flight carnage"
Must admit I've been tempted to change the gears to Karbonite's hoping they will strip & not jam burning out the board.

Yeah think the dfc does add to the problem... i'm just wondering if to go with karbonite gears and keep replacing them (a pain) or fit metal gears and use thinner servo arms.. hopefully they'll snap i stead of the gears.

I went through a phase of killing 65mg's on both my flybarred 450's and was equally pigged off. I went to cheap towerpro's which were fine for flybarred stuff and 'simple' 3D - replaced the whole servo for under £3 if suspect.

Cheers for the heads up lolz! These em: 450 DFC Gear Protect Servo Horn Hitec 65mg 65MG/KST115MG/KST225MG/KST113MG | eBay

Look pretty good if they snap off.. not sure but i think hobbyking sell them too.. but may take you up on that offer though!

pgkevet,I did consider the cheapo servo option but would rather keep with the hitecs, just need weaker arms that snap..

Just ordered 40 of those hitec arms from hobbyking eu warehouse, less than the cost of one set of gears so worth a try
