Which Dremel?

Got the corded 3000 sitting in my cart. Is it worth getting the quick change chuck for an extra tenner, to allow me to fit regular drill bits too?

I got the chuck & it is deffo more convenient but not sure what i paid for it, actually i've never used the stock collet

A collet will run truer than a chuck albeit at this obby levl and the way we use them it won't make a jot of difference. It's only if there was some drill stand or lathe attachment when you might see a benefit (i once hand turned a load of dolls house stair spindles on my black and decker minicraft lath attachment). For slotting an align screw head it doesn't matter.

Well, my dremel 3000 bit the dust today. Dad was using it to grind some plastic and he said it just stopped working. Checked the fuse and it's still dead as a dodo. Have emailed Bosche to see if it can be repaired under warranty...
