  • Looking for kit to take aerial shots of super cars

I have a company that deal with modification of super cars and want to take some aerial shots on the track of the cars for some videos.
Im not sure if I will take to it so don't want to spend a fortune but I've seen the phantom 2 kit which looks ok ?

I want to be able to see the view from the copter as its flown so I know the footage is of the right area.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I can't help from a technical perspective but it is worth noting that photography for commercial purposes would be considered 'aerial work' by the CAA meaning that the pilot should have suitable qualifications and insurances and potentially CAA permission (depending on circumstances). Unfortunately the associated costs are likely to be way more than the cost of the camera platform. The CAA have started to be more active in enforcing these requirements as evidenced by a couple of recent prosecutions. See http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?CATID=1995 for details of the requirements,

I'm not so worries about that as we work in private airfields mainly in Germany and Miami of which both have no worries about this ruling. I have checked and am able to take practice footage for general purposes without breaking the uk law so that would also be workable.

Ok cool. The German's have analogous rules to the CAA (guidance here: http://www.bmvi.de//SharedDocs/DE/Pu...ublicationFile)

Hi, from the sound of it you just want to see what is possible without jumping straight into professional kit which can cost tens of thousands

I think something like the DJI phantom would be fine! You can set it up with a GoPro 3 and a decent gimbal (zenmuse I believe) which is all plug and play. You can also run FPV at the same time and have the image on a smartphone attached to the Transmitter.

I am no expert and have never owned one, but I did look into it in some detail, I just never got round to buying it! You should be able to get everything you need for around £1000 and if you go to a decent shop they will help you to choose exactly what you need and show you how to use it safely!

          Cheers, Dave.

Hi, Just read your post. There is the option of a Walkera FPV Im not sure if you have looked into this. Its a great quad with full FPV control that allows you to see what the camera sees straight from the transmitter.

              I hope this helps
