  • Vbar tail centering

Just fitted a mini vbar to my 450 pro but can't find a way to get the tail servo horn central? Is this possible or do I have to live with it slightly off centre? Any info appreciated

Why won't it centre? Horn won't line up? Control rod too short?

I think you can trim it on the pro software if my memory serves me correct

          Vbar tail centering

Have you tried rotating the horn 180 degrees ? Tbh I've not had any issues with the 450 just set the tail arm to 90 degrees and made sure the limits are set and fly it. I did the 'flip the grips mod' which give the correct pitch at neutral

Second that, you'll definately want to do the grip flip mod. Ideally you need to find an arm that will give you 90 degrees. Check but i may be wrong about the pro software, its been a while since ive messed with my vbars as they just work

Worst case scenario you can fit the arm thats close to 90 as you can get and setup the vbar with that. Ideally its better getting another arm... what servo is it? Use a round arm if your stuck and drill your own hole then you can get it perfect.

Its been so long since ive even taken my 450 pro out its case but... ill take a pic of mine this evening for you if someone doesnt already beat me to it.
Im very surprised you cant get it with the 4 or 5 armed align servo horns. If your stuck for one im happy to send you some?

Thinking about it im not sure it really matters. All the Vbar cares about is how much left or right it needs to hold position or achieve the pyro rate you are asking from it. where the servo is in relation to its travel I dont think matters. If the hover tail pitch is slightly out of 90 then maybe there is a very very slight mechanical rate difference between left and right but once again I think the pyro rate in the Vbar will take care of this.
It is blind to where the servo horn is it just puts what ever input is required to achieve what you are asking off it.

What is the correct tail pitch for hover anyway? I messed around on my 500 when I first started putting it in rate mode and adjusting the tail so when the horn was at 90 it hovered square in rate mode. But then I never flew in rate mode. I have Vbars on all my helis now and have never worried about it. Just power the servo up and get the horn on as close to 90 as possible. The set the limits and fly.

Effectively all it will do if you dont have perfect 90 degrees is give you a small degree of expo. Thats all its going to do really. The servo is so fast anyways that it wont be noticeable if im honest.

I have come across this especially with mikado single servo horns where there is no way you can rotate the arm
having a few of the mikado horns going through the pack the splines are often cut different
so if you have 4 single arms with the kit swap them around as often each one will line up different

i have an easier way of getting a single horn at 90deg now
as using the new Futaba BLS276SV tail servo is a s-bus servo so I just plug the servo into me laptop or futaba 18mz or 14SG transmitter
and adjust the servo cantering till I get the arm at 90deg
