After scaring myself stupid the other day I need some advice...
Have not flown the Rappy 50 for a while (3 months or so!) and was hovering about getting the feel for it again - all ok so far...
Decided a little more head speed would be a good idea so engaged the govenor and the head speed increased to a scary rate (at least for me). Heli was still rock solid in the hover although as expected the collective became far more powerfull. Trying to concentrate on not stuffing the heli os soiling myself while also trying to switch the governor off was not fun!
So my predicament is this, I have a spread sheet (from the Model Avionics web page) that shows you the FF9 (9CHP) settings and the appropriate head speed. I have the gear ration set to 8.5:1 which is correct. Does the "Governor" setting in the FF9 use the Futaba ATV or EPA adjustment range ? My guess is ATV which would mean that instead of 1726RPM I had 2267!
If not then I will work my way up from 50% (disabled) using my rpm meter but this always seems kind of dodgy to me...

stripped down the heli last night and removed the clutch bell and cleaned the remains of the clutch from the canopy/frames/manifold and cyliner head of my OS Hyper. Luckily I think the hyper escaped injesting the dust! It still has good compression and the carb is clean.
been there
