Are folks reticent about letting on that they have HK kit in the light of the admittedly super kits like Gaui and such being the 'norm'on forums? It seems worse in the electric fraternity; is that because nitro power plants can't be got in cheap form like electric motors can?
I know the arguments............you get what you pay for, cheese for metal etc. but are there closet HKers out there?

I have no problem admitting to using gear from HK

I have a YEP 120HV and it's a brilliant bit of kit. I also have a 4 X 450 pro helis, 2 of them are original Align, the other 2 are clones. All of them are using YEP 45A ESCs and all but one are fitted with Turnigy Helidrive motors. All of them are fitted with Turnigy TGY 306G servos.

It would take me a week to make a list of all the gear I've bought from HK, and I don't regret buying any of it... it's saved me fortunes.

My new to me 700 has been kitted with a mixture of brands and cheap. I've been use to using kontronik but this time Im trying a much cheaper running gear. The esc is a 120hv from hk the motor is a turnigy helidrive and was £38 posted the esc was £45 second hand which means I've spent £83 instead of the usual £450 so if it works well I will be quids in we shall see ( when the poxy weather improves )

I've got a 450 and 500 from there and there great for a cheap basher, got a few yep's and used a couple of there motors all been good for money. Got a few orange rx on planks again there cheap planes so cheaper the better makes it more fun if playing kombat knowing your not going to smash your expensive gear up.

lets face it we all like a bargain and most people buy a clone to start off with and after a few crashes they replace parts from align anyway so Align still get our cash

I use their stuff. I've had good and bad experiences, but the underlying reason is cost. Wife, 2 kids, 1 income. If I don't use the cheaper options sometimes, I can't afford to fly those other times. Keeps me happy! :-)

              I agree.

I am sure a lot of the time there is no difference in the main between their items and the pukka stuff.

I've got a YEP 120HV on my 7HV and havent had any problems.

Im also looking at getting a few of the Helidrive motors to see if they can be re-wound easily and what the magnets/construction is like generally...

I use HK for lots of bits and pieces an lipos. Generally it's a good experience.

Recently got a refund for some puffed 6s Batts and it wasn't the nightmare I'd read about.
You do tend to get what you pay for. I am using a yep120hv in my E700 and a 45 version in my 6s 450. Both run a treat and I'm currently testing 3 of their BECs, so far they are ok and do pretty much what they say.

If the focus is on Hobbyking specifically, I think they have become very savvy in the last few years and have upped the quality of a lot of their stuff. As far as clone helis in general, there is a pretty wide range out there and it can be a bit hit and miss. I'm also about to try the YEP 120HV and Helidrive motor. I have run the motor a bit but had governor issues with my ESC which the YEP will hopefully cure.

                        Yes it is.

The YEP is one of their best items...........you will not be disappointed.
