    hi you guys
just thought i throw this out there
are you lot getting out to the field flying or is everyone fed up with this bloody weather i have been out a few times since christmas and there is not much flying going on at all round here. there are a few clubs dotted around us in cheshire and they all seem to be empty even on a sunday when normally there are lots of guys flyin at these clubs .When iv ask at the model shops there is the same answer they have never been so dead and no one is fyin planes or helis and a few have closed , so is this the picture all over the uk and has it got something to do with the weather or is the model population getting smaller or is there no money around so people dont fly and dont like to crash

Full membership and a number on the waiting list here so I don't think it's lack of interest or money. I do think the weather makes it less appealing I have to say, it never used to bother me much flying in the wind but I just couldn't face another walk to the flightline with the wind knocking me over just to get some loops in as anything more precise is a no no, for me anyway

SHH guys are flying whenever it's fly able. We are lucky our field generally drains really well and we are a committed lot, or should be committed anyway lol.

Our new field near Frodsham ticks some important boxes - our backs to the sun, some shelter from the prevailing wind, secure and a nice landowner. But the top soil is clay so after all this rain we can't drive onto it - heck it's not easy walking in some parts! So this may put some folk off but not the hard core amongst us.

Properly booted and suited you can still have a good day as long as it's not too mad. Looking forward to summer mind!

This is our club from above last weekend, It's prone to flooding as you can see from the photo.

My Heli was stinking, the canopy was in a right mess, but I cleaned it before taking a photo.

But In the summer it's perfect. Big, flat open space with large run way, out the way of the public, and we can fly all day everyday with the sun constantly behind us.

Weather and weather alone I think.

Keep simming it, you will be good to go when the weather does finally break for the better.

My main club has had flooding recently like never before in all the years it has existed. It started back at the end of last year and several times since we have had water right up to and even inside the hut (and it's on blocks at least two feet off the ground). It's in a low lying area but it was never like this. Big chunks of some of the back roads have washed away as well. This weekend it was flooded again Saturday but fortunately it drained off by Sunday. They say for some areas of the country it was the wettest January since records began.

I'm pretty fed up with the weather in general so my days in the UK are numbered.

Thats Part of the reason that i moved to NZ when the weather is shocking it normally means a big dump of snow and a great powder day up my local ski field! the only down side to the southern alps is it get get windy but you take the good with the bad!!
                            Regards

The weather is fine. We fly pretty much every Saturday and Sunday. Apart from a bit of wind we have not been rained off in ages. If you keep a keen eye on weather reports there will be clear windows at some point every weekend. Sometimes means getting up early, but i would not let the weather interfere with my speed of progression. Even when it is raining we usually just fly in between showers. I literally cannot remember the last time we did not fly because of the weather. Cold does not bother us too much either.
