Turnigy HeliDrive SK3 Competition Series - 4956-1250kv (550 & 600/.50 size heli) (UK Warehouse)

Turnigy sk3 helidrive 1250kv......anyone using this motor in their 550 ? If so I wondered what you thought of it ? Particularly if you have been using for some time to give a high flight count opinion. Any thoughts greatly appreciated though

I have just pushed the button on a heli drive sk3 for my 700 on a recommendation and at £38 posted a bargain if it's half as good as described


Infact I don't understand the pricing ? Your link is 80 bucks and my 700 size was 61bucks posted ??

yep, noticed this aswell.... for some reason the 700 motor is cheaper ? strange ! very keen to know how it performs in the 550 though

I have a 700 size SK3 on my Rave ENV, and in my view it represents outstanding value for money. Plenty of grunt on the Rave whis is by no means a light ship, 5 min flights leave 35 to 40% in 5000mah packs, runs cool, all good in my opinion. It's maybe only thirty flights old so long term is up for debate but at thirty odd quid who cares!

Only downside for me is the lack of data (bit of a general Hobbyking failing IMHO) regarding timing and PWC settings but I am running auto timing and the PWC is easily calculated.

What ESC are you using? I have a Castle Ice2 120 on my rave right now with a Helidrive motor and in my experience with the Castle ESCs with some motors they work straight away and some motors take lots of fiddling with the settings. I'm about to replace the Castle with a HW opto 120 and I suspect it will just work without any hassles.

I've got the sk3 1100kv motor on my logo 550 harvey and its a great little motor loads of power and definitely worth punt at that price .

A YEP 120 HV. It works fine.
