Make sure you don't buy Clarke IG1000 1kW. I made that mistake and even though it supposedly is 900W continuous I can't charge 6 x 6S 5000 mAh batteries at 1C.

The Hondas are expensive, but if you look at the used prices they don't seem to loose money, they seem to command similar amounts whatever age they are.
Plus the cost of a new catalytic converter... They're not cheap and they don't like to be left on tickover for prolonged periods.

I can't decide on a genny or 2x12v leisure batteries set up as 24v.
Think the leisure battery setup might be cheaper but its difficult to quantify.

I have a leisure battery in a transport case with dc outlets and carry strap etc. Towsure jobbie.

Heavy, limited ability to charge big packs etc etc. 2 of them will be quite a load.

                I also have a Honda 10e - no competition

As above, I used to use two leisure batteries... upgraded to the honda eu10i. Not really comparable setups, the honda is lighter and has unlimited power.

                            OK, I'll expand.

Go buy a gallon of petrol. Stick it in. Run Genny for however long it takes to charge the batteries, switch off IMMEDIATELY so as to not waste a drop and repeat until you have to buy some more petrol.

Then calculate how much each battery cost to charge and, guess what, it will be pennies. Maybe a few pennies, maybe a lot of pennies. If you worry about it you will have fit when you have to spend 10000 pennies after a crash lol.

Put it this way. 2 x leisure batteries will be £200 for decent ones. Add in the electricity used to charge them and replace them after xxx number of cycles. Then work out how much it has cost per recharge

A genny is cheap. You can use it when the house power goes off and when you need power tools where the is no power.

                            Like I said...pennies
