  • Telemetry do you use it?

Ventured in to a radio system with telemetry late last year. For the elec found it so useful really time capacity used, PWM, alarms, voltage and so much more. Having sold my last E for all nitro which is a whole new thread got real time engine temp, rx voltage.

Who out there is using telem and do you find it useful?

Screen shot with dual temp, audio alarms set for 110&120. With the engine in this machine recommendations of head temp are used so makes it convenient.

I have esc temp and batt volts on my dx8 using the ar8000 and tm1000 module it came with. It does come in very handy.

I have a tm 1000 but I haven't put it on yet. That sort of stuff is a bit advanced for me at the moment. I may do it when I convert my 600 to fbl but I don't think I am quite ready for that yet.

No, the tx stuff is pointless for me. Did play with it but quickly got bored with it so now I just use the Kosmik.

If I have an issue in flight the Kosmik just slows down then I can look and see what happened and go from there. If something doesn't feel right I can look at the logs.

On a nitro I can see it being very handy for temps as it gives an alarm but for me with leccy I use the GPS module and thats it now.

I'm just about to purchase an ESC and wondering what to get; whats the slow down you mention? and the GPS bit sounds interesting too?

I found the telem on the elec through TX invaluable. The Kosmik capacity used and slow down is good however on my TX coupled with a Jlog 2.5 I had capacity used alarm with audio alert so knew when to land without any slow down. Also all parameters logged with a data analyzer built in the tx. Fine tuned PWM, headspeed gain etc with no PC in minutes. Alter TH curve get real time RPM no taching just superb.

Yea thats all cool but I also have the BT module so if needed can check on my phone but once its set up nothing needs changing so no longer need the info. With the bt modules and the app's I use them to get it all set up then leave it. RPM, PWM etc then no more so thats why I do not use tx telemetry no more.

Just my view, I imagine many use it and admit if you like this sort off thing its great. Just stating the reasons why I no longer use it

I see thought be more too it. BT module/app sounds sweet to achieve the setup doing the same thing really. Agreed not much changes after initial setup but nice to monitor :-)

Agreed, many like to look and monitor etc. I like to check the logs every now and then out of curisoty as it makes interesting viewing so its the same I guess for those who use the telemetry on the tx.

                  Its all good.

Have to say that I saw no need for it until I saw the Jeti system you have now M. Electric wise with the tx telling you how the packs are doing takes the guess work out of flight time etc.
Its also fair to say that had I had a temp sensor on the 120 it wouldn't have cooked so can certainly see the benefit which is one of the reasons, among many, why I'll be swapping over to Jeti DS-16 soon!
