.might be useful to someone .. note it says free shipping.
I once bought a skill saw bargain from these folk with no problems - I have no affiliation with them otherwise. Darned good saw it is too.

Get what you pay for Kevin.
                  POS not to be recommended.

Good advise would suggest getting a reputable temperature controlled iron.

The need for a high wattage iron for me is only required when soldering EC5 connectors. For that job I use the Weller SP80L iron. It has a large flat tip that holds the heat and only takes a few seconds to get the connector hot for the solder to flow.

I use a proper old heat with a blowtorch iron for the heavy soldering like this

Not found an electric iron that can solder better than this yet!

The electric gun, Peter linked too is fine for pretty much everything else. Like I say I use one at work, and cant fault it. I also have one very similar to the one Andy has linked to at home, which does pretty much all my modelling soldering

                          Agricultural engineer,

Anything that works on an arable farm or to do with garden maintenence or landscaping.

Most electrical jobs are small electric motors, but we do rewind big dc motors and generators which is where the big iron is needed. Its also bloody brilliant for soldering ni-mh batteries for Mardaves etc!

And I used to use a similar gun to my link for basic surgical cautery back in the 70's - worked for that too.
It'd be fine for ocassional use - and I perfectly understand that fine fiddly regular electronics justifies a bigger spend - but when it's a case of heating up the odd threadlocked bolt and attaching a battery connector it'll do the job quick, cheap and efficient

Then I agree that soldering iron would agricultural soldering.

Not for all modelling uses. And fine work is required periodically.
