  • 600nitro bearing blocks...

The main bearings have turned in my trex 600 metal bearing blocks, leaving them a loose fit in the blocks. The bearings just drop in and out a bit too easily. Now, you cant really feel lateral movement in each individual bearing, but its casusing a slight movement in the mainshaft. Are they scrap do you think, or would some bearing locktite be up to the job of holding them solid again once theyre spinning at full chat ?

If they are done for then I am on the hunt for a used set if anyone has any surplus to requirements.... its time to resurect the old bird again
Also on the look out for a set of used 600 blades or maybe even a cheap airframe

    trex 600 nitro le (beastx)
    compass 6HV (Spirit)

its not my dog by the way.

I favour slow setting araldite for these situations.. a rime around each bearing, refit and pop the mainshaft back in without the head on and sit the airframe square on a block under the bottom plate rather than on it's skids (which aren't always even).. then wait 24hrs.
Once set spin it up without blades and feel the mainshaft with a finger to assess vibe levels - bet ya it's fine!

Ony tip is that wjile you have the mainshaft blocks out it's usually time to service the clutch stack bearings too

thanks for the tip, I will give it a go. I am guessing that they can still be removed with heat when the time comes? clutch was very recently done so should be fine

correct, epoxy loosens with heat fine.

do you reckon rapid set araldite is a no go then ? just that I have some already, but don't have any of the slow set.

It'd probably work fine .. just that slower setting is stronger and you get all the time in the world to re-assemble without rushing
