  • Lipo Disposal

Is there anywhere i can take knackerd Lipo's for disposal? I just need to get rid of them.

I know about fully discharging, salt water etc etc... so i dont need ideas from that angle.

That's what I did with mine, I explained that it was completely discharged ready for landfill but they told me to chuck it with the rest of the batteries so I did.

I stand to be corrected, but I believe once they are fully discharged (maybe put a spike through to be sure) you can put them in your household rubbish. As I say, I stand to be corrected on that.

Batteries are damaged, so cant discharge them - and spiking them is NOT an option for me! 1 vote for Council so far...

bucket of salt water for a week, then put in normal refuse. please dont do anything stupid like stabbing lipo as you only need to get some of the chemicals in your eyes or inhale so of the gases. leave it to the utube iddiots

                How are they damaged?

I would do the same as I do anyway, which is buy a bag of cheap salt from the shop.. a plastic bucket, make a really salty bath.. put the discharged lipos in there, seal over the top and leave it in the garage/outside for 2-3 weeks. Then once inert, throw in the rubbish bin.

I read that the salt water can corrode the tabs on the batteries before they have got completely discharged? I've never taken a pack apart to see what they look like personally.

I think the safest option if they can't be discharged to throw in the bin, is take them to the tip, They're recyclable after all.

Forget the tabs. Salt water will do the job.

How does the salt water penetrate the wrap around the pack itself, or do you have to puncture it
