  • EC5 & EC3's

Do you struggle getting EC5 & EC3 connectors apart, I was putting the circlip on the bottom of my Logo mainshaft and thought I know what these circlip plyers will work on and they do. Set them on expand mode and they are perfect for disconnecting EC5's and EC3s, try it

EC3 are a nightmare to separate. EC5s aren't too bad I've found. You can adjust them by opening or closing the pins in the male parts very slightly.

Try the circlip pliers, you'll find it easy

Yeah mentioned this to kev the other day because of the 450.. EC5 is fine but EC3 can be really hard to unplug. I've now switched to XT60's for my 450, they're a bit easier to grab and unplug. Sticking with EC5 on my bigger heli tho

Was going to convert all my deans on the 450 to EC3's as some of the deans are an absolute nightmare to try to plug in and then pull apart....hmmm might give it a try on something else first or just dig out my circlip pliers and convert them all anyway

I did away with deans ages ago... Just not much fun IMO. EC3's are just too hard to unplug, I'm finding xt60's to be better, similar design to the ec3's just easier to unplug.

EC5's are great for the larger packs though.

I haven't really tried EC3's. XT60's are my favourite connectors.

I use EC5's on the 12s set up in case the XT60's might not be able to handle the power.

Ec5's seem to be almost universal for 6s packs.

I think I read somewhere that XT60's are good for 65A continuous so for 6s and above probably not man enough, I (like most people it sees) use EC5 on 6s and above.

You can get XT90's for the bigger stuff but as I say EC5 seems to be the popular choice for larger packs.

I just wiggle them sideways apart - but I recently heard that someone actually lost control due to some XT-XX becoming undone - so if the EC-X is a tight fit, maybe its even better ...

I stuck ex 5's on all my packs, 3s and 6s alike as my hands after years of abuse with carpentry and brick laying can't handle anything else smaller ... Deans connectors are a definite no no .. But the ec5s are nice n chunky for em to get a good grip on
