So here we go again, due to one or two poisonous members at the club Maj and I fly at the most regularly, the club held an 'emergency' meeting about Sunday flying restrictions and decided that it was helis that make the noise so have now banned all helis from flying on a Sunday. Bear in mind Maj and I are the only heli pilots and I've not once flown there on a Sunday and Maj only a few times over the year with an electric! Others have been known to fly EDF on a Sunday.......got to be helis then!
Maj and I get on pretty well with the regular plane flyers but unfortunately one of the arseholes is now the secretary and talks utter bollocks, the one meeting I attended as we heard heli flying was being bought up turned into joke. If I hadn't have been in the room Maj and I would've certainly lost our membership as this one person stood up and said how dangerous the heli flyers are and are very rude to other members! Took some holding back I can tell you when I stood up to talk! It would be fair to say that we are by far the safest flyers that use that field, it's not our helis that end up in the trees way behind the pits or crashing into the woods over 300m away!!
This is now the 2nd club we fly at to bring in heli restrictions, the other has made it almost impossible to fly there so won't renew my membership there next year.
I just can't get my head round how bloody childish this all gets in the clubs and where does the hate for helis come from? It's certainly not the other way but just goes to show that it only takes one or two poisonous members to f**k it up for everyone.
This has now prompted us even more to find a field next year just for our small group of flyers.
