Go for the dfc upgrade, I did this on my trex 600 and it flew like it was on rails, also very easy to setup.Phil

Take a look at DFC Rotor Heads Demystified ...
... which explains the difference between the DFC and standard flybarless head. Essentially, the DFC head on the Align has a crisper response due to higher head speeds and hard dampening. The catch (there's always a catch!) is that you have to perform more maintenance on the head to avoid failures.
For a more hassle-free approach to flying, and the option of running slower headspeeds, you might want to consider a traditional flybarless head. For example, here's Mattie Lodge's opinion after he converted his 700DFC to a more traditional layout .. KDE SXTS Head meets the 700 DFC | Fast Lad Performance Flight TeamTom

I can recommend the RJX head for the 500. It is very good and pretty cheap from hobby king.

But don't be fooled by the low price. They work very well.

I use the standard FBL head from the 500 Pro. My Idle 2 is only about 2700rpm, and I don't need to run it any quicker so I avoided the DFC head through fear of a boom strike. I was probably being a little over cautious.
A few guys at the club use the DFC head on the 500 and swear by it. The DFC probably be cheaper than the standard head as it comes in a kit.Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I second the RJX, I have the same on my 500, works very well.Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
