Fbl on dx6i

Hi thinking about converting my trex500 to fbl but can I run a fbl on my dx6i or will I have to upgrade my tx, thanks.

depends. you won't be able to fly 3gx with satellite or AR7200bx as they have tail gain channel on aux2. for 3gx, you can use full receiver, it will work fine. SK540 will let you use GEAR channel for tail gain.

Good question, I use a dx6i too,
I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem, I was going to go with vbar or vx1n on my next Heli, will read this with interest.

Yes you can. Simple as that, no need for another radio

Yeah dx6i is a great tx, i run one on my 450 with TAROT FBL and my pal runs one with 3gx, you only need 7 channel if using a AR7200bx, u can also use a satellite with it to.

Tail gain is ch 5 not aux 2. Aux 2 would normly be used for gov on a nitro.

No. You're fine with a 6 channel tx with almost all fbl units including the ar7200bx. It's only the Align 3GX that needs a 7channel tx that I'm aware of. The ar7200bx is fine with 6.

The 3Gx can be made to work with a 6channel by using a seperate Rx

I did not mention which unit. But speccy beast uses c5 so does vbar. C5 is normal for tail gain.

With the Vbar you can assign what channel number operates what channel of the Vbar which makes things simpler. Where as most other units are fixed to a particular channel number operating a particular channel.

I know you can assign ur channels. was pointing out that u can use a dx6i for FBL. More so with leccy as u don't normally need extra channel for gov.

No I know what you mean.
Unfortunately I think when I and others read your post, as you'd neglected to add that some FBL units cannot be used with a 6 channel radio as easily unless other components, which in the case of the 3GX is an external receiver allowing the tail gain to be connected to channel 5, this left it open to the interpretation that it was the same for all current FBL inits.
To new members reading this topic it could have been misleading unless fully explained, but and I think it was yourself that said it this is then more product specific. But as we cannot lump all FBL controllers into the same boat regarding use with certain radios, as some do have specific requirements to work on a DX6i for instance, it needed clarifying.
