goblin 500 with dx6i

hi people,just wondering if I can use my dx6i on a goblin 500 or would it be best to upgrade to a newer version???????. Ive brought the heli,ar7200bx,talon 90 in which I don't know if that was the right choice now ive been reading the reviews lol,scorpion 1350 and turnigy 4500 30c batterys.Also ive never set up a flybarless heli before so bit nervous in doing so so any tips would be great,thanks neil

There's no problem using a DX6i with the AR7200BX. Whether you want a better radio is up to you. The DX7s, DX8 and DX9 are noticeably better made than the DX6i, but you don't need to replace it as long as it's working. It's just personal preference.

As for setting up a flybarless heli... If you can set up a fly bar heli, and understand the terminology, then setting up the Beast X (ar7200bx) is very straight forward. A digital pitch gauge will be helpful if you don't already have one. I fly the AR7200BX in my Trex 500 and Vbars (or clones) in my other helis. I've had no reason to swap over the 500 over to Vbar as it flies really well.

The one thing I will point out, is that you might need to cut the shaft and grind a flat spot on that motor to give clearance for the battery. I'm not 100% certain on that, but I was under the impression that any motor other than the Quantums (4115 and 4120) had a shaft that's too long.

DX6i is fine with a Goblin 500. The only limiting factor I would see is that the DX6i only has one idle up setting.

Go for it, im running the talon 90 with the 4020-1350 and use to have the AR7200bx on it...i've had no probs with the setup for over 325 flights doing 3d.

If you aint got the tools to cut the motor shaft the quantum is the easier option. Turnigy lipos will do the job but go for ones with a higher C rating, maybe 4000mah 40c.

thanks for your comments so far.what are your tx settings then paz26181 if you don't mind telling me??? just hope I don't mess up lol.setup 4 trex 450's flybared so hoping I can set it up fingers crossed,built the heli,servo's in just the talon and ar7200 to sort out which I seem to be putting off lol

+1 I flew my logo 600SE using a DX6i until I upgraded, that's practically a 700 sized heli, it's perfectly capable

Set the ESC end points up first, you'll need to get around the BX fail safe as per pdf. Do this without the blades on just in case.

The throttle end points I had in Travel Adjust was 75 down and 105 up but this will vary so follow the guide. There is also a youtube clip which walks you through the ESC setup.

Next setup your BX and then the remaining settings on your ESC via your pc.
