De-anodising

did you ever have any issue with rust or anything on any of your parts? I mean anodising is meant to protect it from rusting isnt it?

alloy doesn't rust..

Correct. And I don't see caustic being a 'decolouriser'. As far as my memory of the effect it's that anodising produces a thicker layer of oxide on the ally surface and the colour attaches to that? In which case you are taking the surface layer away. Ideally you would then re-anodise and using a chrome coloured pigment. Just look at the shiney finish that RJX get on their fbl heads. There's a whole lot of anodising stuff available on ebay.

Wow you guys sure do get upset don't you lol...... it's only heli parts! just dip and clean and the colour is gone, they won't melt or warp out of shape, get a grip people!

it worse when you have done it and it worked then you have to read it doesn't work. its laughable ....

In 1978 I tried to clean up a thermostat housing off my Triumph Spitfire, by looping a bit of string through it and dangling it in a bucket of Caustic soda overnight....
The next morning, all that remained was the string. ALL of the alloy had dissolved.
Mind you, it was prolly some horrid 'monkey metal' zinc alloy, but just saying....

it only takes seconds to do not hours..thats what happens when you leave it overnight..

I did this on some parts once and it was very quick and easy to do BUT I have to say that the finish didn't seem to last that well. After a few weeks/months they started to have a dull and slightly inconsistent/blotchy finish. Could easily be polished up again but just wouldn't last. I didn't use Autosol etc though so maybe that cures the problem.

yeah you do have to keep an eye on it but I only done my stuff cause it was orange and its a fortune to buy it alloy colour..

I think it looks a bit bland and boring when stripped, just my opinion....

I did the same on my Baja, but it was purple. Jeez I better go home quick and check it's not dissolved or something. I mean I did it about 3 months ago so anything could have happened by now....!
