  • Newbie QUESTIONs??

    Hello guys,

I have been practising aggressive hovering and fighting the winds since my heli got setup...(20-24 packs till now) and i still cannot keep the heli stable as the wind is always making it go round and round...and always hits the ground hard when i put the throttle stick down.....But Training gear is a lifesaver and saved me from plenty hard bounces

So i had couple of questions which you guys might be able to answer and enlighten me a bit more

1.Why do people use separate TX lipo batteries when you can just buy one from your local corner store like Panasonic or Duracell batteries?

2.Also is it true that my lipo will last very long?, since i am charging it slow using stock Ace rc charger which came with the combo takes 3 hours to charge 1 battery....and hover like 4 mins with each battery.

    cheers,

    md

The wind shouldn't do that to your heli at all! It sounds like you've got the gyro in "rate mode". Useful for setup tasks, for for normal flight you should have the gyro set in "heading hold" mode. In that mode, no matter what the wind does, the gyro should keep the heli pointing in the same direction. Or, you may have the gain set too low. What's your gain setting in your TX?

Sounds like your pitch curve has a fair amount of negative for <50% stick. Can you post your PITCH curve?

Because they are rechargable and last an awful lot longer.

Get yourself a LIPO battery checker. You should leave at least 20% charge left in the pack after each flight otherwise you will ruin your LIPOs. A single charge for a 450-class heli at 1C charge rate should take about an hour, max. 3 hours to charge one LIPO is WAAAAAAYYYY too long. Sounds like your charge isn't up to the job (ie. not enough Watts) or you've got it configured wrong.

        Hello mate,

Nah the heli is in HH mode not rate mode and its nose is always facing forwards its just that the wind blow it left and I have to take it to the right and the whole process ends up in a circle....

My pitch curves are standard 0,25,50,75,100 in both normal and stunt....but I guess its normal since all 3d flyers learn to fly it this way...

the charger is am using at the moment is this one.... Ace T3AC 2-3S LiPo Balancing Charger 110V AC ...

specs :Compact balance charger input voltage 110-240v ac 50/60hz
        output cutternt 650ma x 3

and I got 4 gen ace 2200mah 3s lipos takes awful lot of time...well I am planning to stick to the hobby for a while so need a charger surely so I was thinking of getting something like this....

GT A-6 Charger/balancer/discharger - Lipo charger - Lipo charger - Lipo charger - Giant Shark
I know better charger out there like icharger but was looking for something around 25 30 pound since I don't have any big heli and planning to keep the 450 for a while, so you think this will do the job for now....??

        thanks .

Hi when I first started I used training gear in windy conditions I found the wind does catch them a lot so once I took them off it was a lot easier to so try and loose them as soon as you can and when you are learning you don't want a lot of negative pitch set in your transmitter otherwise when you panic your normal reaction would be to pull the throttle stick down and if you have too much negative pitch it will ram your heli into the ground.

Your pitch curve is giving you full negative. That will make landing very difficult and is not normal for starting. Minimum cyclic is usually between -4 and 0 degrees.
