  • JR 8900G servo question....

I've just converted my 700N to flybarless and it is running an SK540, flys really nice, but I've noticed once or twice when turning the power off after shutting down the tail servo goes all the way over to one side, I was wondering if this is just a perculiarity of the system I'm running with that servo, or if it's a known indication on JR servos that it may be on its way out, it's not exactly new.

My tail servo just acts normal but it is not a JR one...may I ask how you are getting on with the align sensor...I am having trouble with mine I think it is not seeing the sensor on ramp up in normal (tried 2 sensors both the same)...so it is going too limp mode which is 70% of throttle then backing off to the set H/S when the guvnor kicks in...it worked perfect this evening for the 1st flight I thought I had solved the problem...then it started playing up again...flies very well like you say...

If your 8900g is dying your tail will have a mind of it's own at random moments. One minute you'll have little to no response sigh a slow right piro or it'll piro hard to the left or will do a mix of both. It caused me a massive headache & in the end macgreggor said it was forked. Happened to a few on here.
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

Thanks, that's a relief, it sounds like mine is fine then, flys really well, it must just be how the SK540 shuts down then, probably if its sending a control pulse to the servo at just the right moment it loses power it effects the pulse length but just has enough power still to move the servo.

It is a peculiarity of the system or setup you have, you don't happen to have a stepdown reg in the wrong place do you? I experienced the same but all my servos would move when i turned the power off.
            Happy Flying! Thanks - Dave

I am running a regulator between the lipo and everything else on the system, it is supplying 6v to everything, so whatever the SK is seeing so is the servo...

I am doubtful of the 8900 being totally reliable on a 6 volt supply. I have a feeling it should be on 5 1/2 volts max. Some time ago there were some reported problems of the servo failing that seem to involve the frame rate. It is supposed to be 333Hz compatible but it burnt up for some users at that rate. It could have been a faulty batch but it was so long ago now.

Just double checked it and it's on 5.6, I was thinking of another heli I have the same reg on which is on 6v, but with a different servo.
