Well done to all involved for sure, Props to you Kev for doing the sound system all on your own pretty much. Problems with the flightline could be avoided by having a bigger flight line probably. If we could get the world record field as the flight line for the whole event 10 flights stations should be possible. Closing the 3 middle one's for Demo's wouldn't be much of a problem then I reckon as they do at IRCHA. That's what I think we're aiming for with the RCHA flyin I think.

Not an easy job to do walking around on a flight line for best part of the days. Give yourself some credit man.

Everybody was trying their best however,

Never received any programme so had no idea what was going on, or timings for anything, not really sure who the pros were, this was not helped by not being able to hear any announcements

Please don't take this as personal criticism

We were Happy to chill out but some others were getting very frustrated

Going by the fact that this was I suppose the first 'Proper' RCHA event held in a new location, it was a success. You brought 4 great 'non uk' pilots from around the world to this event. And it was great to see Nick and Matt fly some stunning flights over the weekend.

However, please only take this as constructive criticism. The location was too small and not enough flight-lines. All the pro's used the middle three pegs most of the time, leaving only a few pegs left for the 'average flyer'. The far right flight station shouldn't have been used as there simply wasn't enough room to fly a heli properly. I flew on that station once, but just didn't feel comfortable due to the lack of space and feeling boxed in. As people have already stated, the PA system wasn't up too standard. It would have been nice to have a programme/schedule for the event so we know when the demo slots are aswell.

Perhaps next year could look like this ?

*Hold it in the world record field.
*Have programmes available so we can view a schedule for the weekend.
*Have 10-12 flight stations with the middle 3 stations as demo slots for the pros.
*Have the flags down the entire flightline aswell.
*Have all the stalls behind the flightline along the hedge way.
*Have the camping in the field the event was held in this year. I know you said there was trouble with the land owner about having a beer tent in the WR field, so either don't have a beer tent, or put the beer tent/ food stall in that small car parking area (between the field and the WR field).

If money would be an issue then I'm sure most people would pay a little more to attend the event where they know they're going to get a chance to fly and feel comfortable doing so.

The World Record field is very similar too the IRCHA Location, so you never know, you could bring pilots/spectators from around the world next year.

Again, this is only constructive critisism. All the RCHA crew did a great job of the event and it was well worth the money alone just too see Nick Maxwell fly

Sadly I only managed one day , the Sunday, but wow , no really have you ever seen 110 helis in the air at one time ! I mean it was just incredible , the noise , the smell , everything was just amazing ,.......
plots of stuff has been mentioned but don't forget the real aim was always the record and we blitzed it!!!

Well done to those who gave their time to stand in a field and boooooo to those who couldn't be bothered ,.......
life is always about money ,sadly, but this was the first big RCHA , it will only get better !!!

lessons learned, huge, achievements accomplished huge , potential for next year boundless !
              Roll on RCHA 2014

Sam I agree but also on the right flight station was a footpath the other side of the henge.
Which people were using but most pilots didn't even notice.
So in effect shouldn't of even flown over the henge.

I walked through the gate to see signs.
                But only LOW HELICOPTER ones.
                Really?
Didn't warn the public at all.
Shame to have to bring this up but feel safty has to.

To me it was not a event run by a insurance company or a forum.

                As for the world records.
Did it really have to take all afternoon to hover 3 times.

By the time we got back the trade stands had packed up.
                Great thanks for that.

Tbh was great fun just needs a lot more planning.
                Cheers Paul

Disappointed to miss out again. Seems like generally people had an amazing time. So well done all those involved.

Re Dons OP, i wouldnt want to stand and fly in front of everyone. Not cos i would be the worst (possibly) but just never one to enjoy that sort of thing. Much rather enjoy others flying and soak it all up. But I know that once I had done it a few times and got some nice comments I would enjoy it a whole lot more.

Sounds like you did a great job Kev. Also seems like there may be a few volunteers for next year who feel they could have done a better job

Timetable? Didn't see nor was I made aware of a timtable all weekend, however this didn't spoil my weekend. Well done to all who mucked in to help put on the event, its a thankless task, I know from experience and you cant please all of the people all of the time.

Ok so the thread has diverted slightly from 'don is a poof' where it started lol but I guess all of this needs to be discussed. My take was that I got more than I paid for mainly because of the social aspect

Yes there is room to make the event bigger and better and I for one would be more than happy to pay more to help that happen. Kev kudos to you fella there is no way I would have done your job and you get an A for effort but the PA needed oooomph as very few of us heard anything other than background music and a few muffled announcements. I spent a fortune on raffle tickets and didn't hear any results so don't know if I threw away winning tickets lol

Shame about the air ambulance arriving when it did we were all too busy with the GWR to take much notice and I would have loved to see it do a fly past then land in front of us.

And hopefully next year we will get a flightline without the sun in yer face

We still had a wicked time and spent most of the time chilling and chatting with loads of guys that have turned from cyber friends to real ones

Listen there are lots of areas we want to focus on for improvement. There are a no. of reasons why we couldnt hold it on the airfield and the layout being the format it was. We spent hours and hours trying to make the best of what we had to work with.

On the whole is was positive but like those school reports one chap said to me a great event and i said "Good Effort, but Room for Improvement".

If you anything to add pm me please keep an eye out for some other info too.
