What does electricity cost?

We've had this discussion down at our club a couple of times, but no-one has tried to figure it out properly yet.

We have a few heli flyers who use the club's power sockets regularly, a couple of 6s packs, lots of 3s and various others. If I had to guess at the quantity charged per week, I would say the following:
3s 2200 x 70 charges,
6s 5000 x 20 charges,

If I add that up, it comes to about 254 amps per week during daylight hours, but I don't know how to figure what the cost of electricity is.

Electricity in your house is sold in kiloWatts / hour.

You would need to convert what you put into each pack into an amount of power that was used to re-charge the packs then take a look at you household bill for an indication of cost.

By converting the charges to power or kW / hr you will have the amount used in the correct units to compute the price.

Power = volts * amps or W = V * A

You will also need to take into account how efficient your charging station is.

Volts X amps X hours/1000 = units Units cost around 10p . A 6S is about 25V and takes 5 amps for an hour.

25x5 =125/1000 units or about 1p. Make it 2p to allow for charger efficiency.
