  • DFC dampers....

    Ok so im slightly confused.

I've just replaced the dampers in my 6003 DFC head.

The old ones appear to be rubbery and flexible.

The new ones appear to be plasticy and pretty inflexible.

Both are black, both are align, and both are the same size/shape...

the ones I have put in are H60244T and labelled as 600DFC head Damper.

Are these the 'right' ones, and were the old ones the 'wrong' ones?... I cant see one turning into the other through use.....

    Thanks

    James

    Hi James.

The current DFC dampers are made from a much harder POM material to stop any flexing of the rotor spindle in flight. The older ones you removed sound like they were the older 90 durometer rubber type, which have been replaced in the DFC in favour of the new harder material.

They are fine and you will no doubt feel an improvement in agility and precision I would say during flight.

+1 on that, I recently ordered some from another supplier (rather than Raj at Align for some reason), and they were the softer type, and apparently you get towards the risk of a boom strike especially with longer blades.

The ones I use in my 550 DFC which has the 600 head, are pretty near solid plastic with no give when doing the technical thumbnail check (I think the proper test is one of SHORE hardness). Defo should be nigh on solid.

The old ones you talk of sound like the ones in my EFL head.. black, rubbery, can be squeezed with some pressure. The DFC ones are more like plastic.
