    Hi

I got a fusion smart alarm today for my 700; I was hoping that I can leave this on the heli and set it up so that it beeps / sounds its really quiet alarm when the receiver battery drops below 30% so I don't need to keep taking the canopy off to check. I am running a HV setup unregulated.

However, I've noticed that when moving the sticks quickly the voltage drops a lot and it thinks that there is only 14% left in the pack when there is actually 50. What would be a safe cut off voltage for the alarm that I should set it at so that it goes off at around 30%

    Cheers

It depends on your battery. It's easier if you work in volts. It depends on the minimum working voltage of your servos and the temperature of the battery. The volts will drop further as the battery gets colder and older. You can get a good result by setting up the alarm to go at a high level and then seeing how flat the battery is.

As if someone is going to buy a new heli just so that the packs slide in from the front, even if it were leccy, which it's not. Get real

Calling me a troll, you win Sev, as always you're right. I promise not to join in on any of your threads nor posts from now on. Sorry Stan, didn't mean to troll your thread.

Best suggestion is as cjcj1949 says, run you pack down say 2 flights then see what you put back in, in terms of capacity and check what the coltage is. Its difficult to say as packs are different and so are flying styles. I get 3 flights out of my 2300 LiFe packs and I change it, I bargain on around 400ish mah per flight, so I know that I've got plenty in reserve. Couldn't you do the same and run a couple of flight packs in the same way.

Haha I feel like I'm missing something :P

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try to drain the battery down to 20% as recommended and see what the voltages are. I was very surprised to see how big the voltage drops are when put under load!

It would be nice if there was a battery checker that measures the milliamps taken out (like the new kontronik ESCs) as opposed to the voltage alone, although I guess this would have to be wired in series not parallel.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately my 200W A6-10 charger is not advanced enough to tell me the current put back in, but I will try to drain the battery down to 20% as recommended and see what the voltages are. I was very surprised to see how big the voltage drops are when put under load!

The problem is Stan if you're charger is not sophisticated enough to tell you how much is going back in, it in turn can't tell you what the %age is accurately. All packs are different and the chemistries don't allow for all chargers to accurately gauge the capacity. The PL6 and 8 allow for you to run a charge discharge cycle a number of times in order to plot a charge/discharge graph and from this it can then tell you accurately what the %age capacity left is.
