  • Main blade screws - special or... ?

Sorry, there's a very similar post on here about Jesus bolts, but I didn't want to hijack it.

I decided to swap the blades on my 250 DFC up the field on Monday. Doh! how stupid was that. Dropped one, lost forever - screw that is, not blade.

According to the manual the screws are M2x8 socket head, but do they need to be anything special? I have an M2x8 socket head that is used to hold part of the head on my 450 (I forget what the part is called off hand - like a rocker arm). I keep all my spares

Will that be fine? Otherwise I'm spending about £5 after postage just for a screw!

    Thanks.

[EDIT] Looked it up, I have a spare "washout arm" from a 450 sport. So it's the screw that holds that on.

I buy lots of screws from Modelfixings. I generally buy quite long ones on the basis that I can cut them down a bit if necessary. That way if I lose one I have plenty of spares.

Tip: put a nut on the screw inside of where you cut it. That makes it easier to hold in the vice and also the nut restores the thread at the end when you take it off.

Oops, sorry, should have been a bit clearer - the spare I have off the 450 is the right size and thread so no need to cut down, I'm just not sure if it needs to be some sort of "super duper don't snap and let my blades fly off" kind of screw or anything!!
