  • Will this lipo bend out ?

My Opti lipo got bent in a crash. All cells are balanced fine. And there's no lithium smell coming from the pack. It's just a bit bent lol

I can see the metal plates are bent. What's the best way to bend this pack back (if I can) ?

    Thanks

Go for the 50% crash damage replacement Sam.

That will more likely rupture if you start messing with that.

It's the safer bet with that damage, the solder connection board has taken a whack by the look of it and the corners of the cells are sushi lol

Tbh I can't afford that. I just stuffed my 700 in and got a massive repair bill on my hands. Last thing I want to do is spend more money on new packs.

I understand that on a safety aspect it's best to buy a new one, but do you not think it would bend out, it's not a massive bend.

Hmmmm I think Tim gave a pretty good reason to why that pack needs replacing!
50% off crash replacement, is better than a kick in the teeth!!

Tim gave the only sensible answer available. What is your Advice? Hit it with mummies rolling pin?

It might have balanced ok, but when it's in the heli and has some load on it who knows, I had a 3S pack bent less than that that flew ok twice then puffed while charging, had to throw it out of the window before it went up! I wouldn't risk it personally, a 6S would make a right mess of your heli or house if something is wrong!

£50 is small beer in comparison to a 700 or your house catching fire!

Sam you've just stated you cant afford to replace it. Can you afford to rebuild the 700 again if it fails? I think you know the answer

True .. Thanks guys, perhaps it's wise not too take the risk. I'll put it too one side for a while and get crash replacement.

Get a 130X, 3£ a lipo and when crashing they usually don't bend,
50% off a new pack sounds very reasonable considering the condition of that lipo!

£50 is half the price of a set of 90 size blades! If you attempt to straighten it and fracture the internals and are not aware of it your next flight could easily cost you another couple of hundred just because of a 50 quid battery.

my monies on replacing it. I know I'll get slated for this but here goes anyway, " This is not a cheap hobby that you should make do with faulty/damaged gear in. If you can't afford to run a 90 size maybe you should consider downsizing to a 50size until funds allow you to maintain a 90 size again"

This is not ment to be rude so please don't take it that way, it's just an observation from a distance.

I can afford to fly a 700, I haven't been having much luck recently, flying too low. I can afford to repair the odd crash, just recently it's been a bit expensive .. So no, there's no need for me too downsize.

As said Sam no malice ment mate. The fact that you fly these machines means you have respect from me anyway all I was suggesting really was why not wait until you can afford to take advantage of the crash replacement deal.
(I see in an earlier post you've decided to do exactly this).
