  • Can I CA a chip in a blade?

I was forced to do an auto last week when my motor started cutting out. One blade folded back upon landing and hit the grip and now I have a chip and a small cut. The blade is still very strong and no flexing or give.
Can I put CA into the chip and cut just to be safe? Hopefully the CA will sip into the blade?
I'm gonna go to the shop this morning to buy a new CA, is this ok?Model Shop Leeds - Specialists in radio controlled models

I would still fly that mate. Yes a bit of ca or epoxy will strengthen it.

Thanks. Video is here, around the 40sec mark that I noticed the motor slowing down. Then when I tried to turn to come back to me for landing, the heli dipped and that's when I figured the motor is slowing down and I didn't want to come in nose in (I've been getting confused with nose in since I started to learn nose in inverted) so I turned to tail in to bring it back.

          lol, yep

We are advised to do this to one blade on the Triabolo. As long as we do not go within 34mm to the leading edge. I'm sure this figure will be roughly the same with all blades.

If its gone through the cover be careful using ca as it will dissolve the foam inside the blade and epoxy may be a better option

The blade looks ok to me Muscle flex.. I'd opt for some epoxy resin though to fix it.. offers more strength than CA.

Definitely use epoxy on a composite repair.

I had a very similar forced auto with similar blade damage. I still fly them with no problems. I would not worry about that personally.

Do you still fly this blade like this?

My 700 nitro main blades look like I've been hacking trees with them. The only reason I wouldn't fly a set of blades was if there was splitting or significant damage to the leading edge, or near the root holes.

My 'edge' tail blades have split on inside corner of the trailing edge. Some 5 min epoxy, sorted, even balanced the tail out lol.

Wow I have some blades for my warp with a dink at the blade root (leading edge) and I changed them out. Figured they would be the highest stress area. Surprised people are using them but maybe I will re evaluate. The treeabolo blade really surprises me!!!

+1 on all the above - there's no meaningful strength at that point of the blade as all the "beef" is in the raised portion coming out of the root. The blades on my Raptor 90 look a whole lot worse that yours!
