Ok while doing the rebuild on my raptor it was servo testing time so I duly plugged in and checked out the direction and function of each servo.
I will be using a direct life pack for the RX but for now I plugged in my 2500 NIMH pack which I used when it was a nitro.
While checking I noticed the RX blinking which I thought was a signal issue, only when I moved the battery pack did I notice the the RX blink on and off.
Further investigation with swan morton along the flex of the battery showed this.

I nearly lost my rappy a few years ago..... now I know why.
At the time I put the issue down to low charge and fitted a CSM throttle safe. (great piece of kit)
So the advice is, wiggle those wires when you connect your batteries you never know
