Anyone use TP1430C Charger for 12S packs?

I am trying to charge my 2x6S packs as a 12S but having major problems with balance board sparking when connecting the balance ports into the board. This is now the third pack and third different manufacturer (Optipower, Turnigy & Thunder Power) all with same issues. I can charge them perfect as 6S

Anyone use TP1430C Charger for 12S packs?

Are you plugging in the discharge leads in first? Are the packs at similar charge amounts?

Yes I am plugging in discharge leads first then the balance leads one at a time. Packs are same age and are being used in a 700 size heli - I had thought that charging them as 12s instead of 6s would be better as they are being discharged as 12s.

Both packs are matched eg both have 29% left after a 4:30 min flight

With a series connection you must plug the balance leads into the right socket. It looks as though you've crossed over. This shorts out the batteries.

There are 2 x 6S connectors on the balance board which I am currently using or where should I be plugging them into

You have to use the connector that goes with the right battery. If you get the wrong connector you will burn it out. Those boards are not very good. It is too easy to get it wrong. For series connection you need the main plug and balance socket grouped together. They should be fused as well.
