Totally agree. Think ego and situation affected judgement. (not defending his actions just saying)

well we were not there , He immediately (hit hold and when he saw it was still flying spooled up again,) checked the tail and cyclic's , he would also be able to hear it , as in blade damage , belt or gear problems , etc and he then carried on flying it in a sedate manner (by his standards) for the remainder of the flight.

I am not saying he is right or wrong but hey he helped design it and has flown it all over the world so no way am I going to criticise his decision .

Each to their own I guess , I would land , just in shock from flying that well ! LOL

When you fly that close to the limit you're gonna kiss the ground sometimes, I'd be inclined to trust his judgement on whether to continue or not and as it didn't detonate mid air i'd say he did nowt wrong

I agree. From the vid, it looks to me like Bert was at least 20metres from the crowd (assuming the cameraman wasn't another pilot sat in front of the crowd). Possibly further therefore. Nothing about that flight screamed "danger" or "careless" to me ??

The guy was there to do a demo, and put on a show. Seems to me he did just that ....

EDIT : I saw him at AIR too - those flights were a good 30-40 metres from the crowd ...

I agree he was there to put on a show, get a few "hey your so cool"comments and pats on the back afterwards, maybe he will shift a few more Goblin kits off the back of it as they are obviously so strong.

Hopefully the guy that has less skill than him flying somewhere who tries to emulate his role models decision to keep flying if he catches the ground some way wont end up seriously injured or even dead from the result of being hit by a model as we have all seen recently.

Shutting that model down straight away and retrieving it would have been the best advertisement that flight could convey to people.

Sorry to moan,I am bored at work,if I was doing something more interesting I wouldn't have even looked at the forum or the video and tbh couldn't give a $hit what he does.

Hmmnnn , tough call on this ( remember I'm a newb so be gentle )

He's promoting the product , and I've got to say putting it through hell ! So it shows the model can take it and what a great pilot he is to make the save .

But ... as an ambassador for the sport / hobby should he not have landed and checked it ?

I think the latter would have been the better option and it would show that he also thinks about the safety of himself , his caller and the crowd .

                    Just my 2 p

WOW lol, testament to the heli thats for sure.

My opinion for what its worth in that situation he should have landed and checked it even if it was briefly. To many unknowns on a belted heli imo to just piro and carry on. The crowd are to close and no safety at all.

What would have looked awesome is if he came in straight away, checked it all over and 10 secs later took off again as that properly ate some dirt and not just a touch lol but nothing happened so in this case no harm done
