  • What 450 - blade or align

I am coming on nicely with my flybared Trex 500 and wanted a second heli for a couple of reasons - in case of stacking the 500 in a big way and my heli club has restrictions in the evening on heli size.

So I have been eying up the Align T-Rex 450 Pro V2 3GX Super Combo and the E-Flite Blade 450X 3D Flybarless BNF.

The Trex is £360 and will need a receiver, I know Align stuff is of substance as I have a 500 already, I am not to sure about Aligns own flybarless electronics.
The blade is £288.90 and comes with a spektrum receiver with built in beastX, I l know the beastX is a good bit of kit.

Which should I go for, on paper the blade looks better (beastX, receiver included and cheaper) but no one I know flies one so I cannot compare it to the Align stuff.

    opinions please.

    Many thanks

    Simon

ive been looking at these 2 choices lately
ive had a 450 pro (copterX copy) and thought it was a royal pain in the ass to do anything on it, although it did fly nice.
im now flying a blade 400, very similar to the 450x (basically the same but without the FBL) i really like the layout of everything on it and it really easy to work on, i think id go for the 450X to be honest, the only downside of the 450X i can think of is the stock servo's are supposed to be a bit pants ....

yeah the align and blade are ok.

But if you want a "Class" 450 you need to look at JR or Protos

And before all the sheep start bleating on about parts prices this, cheap kits that. Id rather pay a little extra and get a better heli. And the only reason you see more of the cheaper helis at competitions is because thers more fools that have been lured into buying them.

links to JR or Protos and compass warp??

And to answer one thing above, money is an issue my pockets are not endless.
If they were I'd buy a 700 tomorrow and a scale turbine

What 450 - blade or align

Personally I'd go for a trex 450 pro dfc and pay a little extra for a 7200bx instead of the 3gx. Having just seen my mates being built I was well impressed with the quality.

I've never seen one in the flesh but have always fancied a beam e4 se as an alternative, quality sounds awesome, not sure about spares!

if i was to buy a 450 again the ones i'd look at are
                            trex 450
                            thunder tiger mini t
hirobo embla (the kit price came down a lot, so don't start bashing the cost of this kit)
                            the jr 450

i fly hirobo and i've also got a jr vigor
both fly very well and are of great quality

but with all the trex spares about i'd go this direction as a 450 is a basher and crasher model
well thats how my trex450 se v1 gets treated
                            Hirobo Turbulence D3
                            a bunch of bls servo's and a 701 gyro

I've not owned a mini but have had a couple of the STD Protos and they are a good machine for the money and spares prices are good.

I currently own a JR Forza a Hirobo Embla and a Blade 450x and as far as a performance heli goes the Blade is a much better tool. It's 185g lighter than the Forza and feels every inch of it in the air. The parts are cheap and easy to find and despite being pretty familiar with the old beastx I just set up my TX per the manual and it's flown like that ever since.

The blade servos are a VERY weak point though. 2 of my friends have 450x's and all 3 of us have had the STD servos fail within a few months. They are V poor quality. Mercifully though all 3 failures happened between flights. The traversty is that when they work, they are very high performance servos. The tail is about .4s 60deg!

Despite all that I still wouldn't trade it for any other 450 size bird. Whilst I've not owned a Trex450 I've flown them lots of times and I do have a 600efl pro which I adore so I'm no Align hater but the blade is in a different league.

The Forza is a lovely model and has more presence in the air, It's a tad more precise and doesn't lack power. The engineer/scientist in me would take it over just about anything but the drug addict in me would take the blade everyday!

Forza is for sale if anyone wants it........
