  • raptor 90 engine

Hi got myself a raptor 90 air frame just wondering what engine to go for in my other raptors I have redline 53s which are a good engine whas thinking about the redline 100 is it a good engine for the raptor 90 or should I go for an os thanks.

im running an Align 91h in my Rappy 90 awesome power. Heard a lot of good things about the redline 100. But if you want mega power you want the YS120. but im not short of poke with a 90 and a careful collective thumb
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

got a os 91sx max pumped on its way just wondering can I take the pump off and fit a normal back plate I have read that some people have had pumps fail.

if you remove the pump you need to change the carb aswell. the pump will be fine. And the engine should be plenty pokey enough

Well got my rap 90 airborn today removed pump no need to change carb as the carb on it is the two mixture screw version not the single one it looks like some one has added the pump to this engine ,runs like a dream and for 65 quid off fleabay what a bargain, what a really great stable helie just sit there in the wind awesome!.

Your very lucky to get an ebay engine that runs right!! The right carb for the none pumped engine is the 3 needle one!! if you have two needles thats the pumped one. HOWEVER if its running ok, leave it be, dont mess for the sake of it!
And yeah you'll love the Raptor! I adore mine!! I just wish I didnt crash it as much!

some of the pumped motors had a third needle retro fitted as supplied by os as a spare part
it works opposite to a normal needle as that screwing it in richened the mixture as it reduced the amount of fuel returning to the tank
the sz engine had 3 needles with the regulator in pumped and non-pumped versions, they had the same type number but a different part number

well thats a bit bloody irish Dave!! Nearly as bad as Thunder tiger with the 3rd needle behind the mounting bolt for the throttle arm! Meaning you have to remove the throttle arm and reset the linkage every time you adjust it!!

when you first see it you think its just wrong
but when you think about it then you cam work it out
the third needle goes into the fuel return banjo, you remove the bolt and fit the needle assemble
so screwing in the needle restricts the returning fuel so more goes into the engine
but the real problem was the pumps were failing
