My first proper Heli crash.

For me, a proper crash has to have snapped blades. Otherwise it is just a poor landing.

Don, I thought the logo was a re-kit? That tail fin looks pristine!

My first proper Heli crash.

This one almost got away with the blades, but they delaminated!
The tail let go whilst doing a fast banked turn about 60ft up, it dropped like a brick. The damage was far worse than it looked, everything was either bent or cracked! But got away with servos & boom supports!
Anyway, its now an E550

Don,t need a stihl saw i am just earning interest on the money lol.
I stripped the 450 back last night and i have swapped the gears out for these new black plastic ones.
I will have a go at hovering if i can tonight to see if i got away with it.

Are the black plastic gears those new indestructible ones?
I got sick of doing the front TT gears on long grass so fitted 500 skids not done a set since.

I think they are the new stronger ones.
I was planning on leaving the tail gears as normal so something can give.
So i need 500 undercarriage?
I will ask on the forum. good idea
I do consider it a save and the damage is minimal.
i took the feathering shaft out as a precaution and changed it

I intend to replace the main gears at the fuse end with the black gears and leave the tail rotor gears with the old white gears therefore leaving weaklink in the set up.

i was so busy writing i started writing and reading on the wrong thread. It was confusing me at the time hence my response when it was made clear.
