Doesn't Mr Mels calculator only work for Kontronik ESC's, the OP's heli has a Castle in it. From memory you have to run a lot higher throttle % on Castle, or go up a pinion compared to Kontronik setups.

It's been pretty good so far on my Yge equipped helis, and on external gov too.

I'm 100% sure its the motor kv too high. I had the same motor last year on the older straight cut gears which was fine, as soon as I went to the helical my yge kept shutting down with overtemp warnings. Changed to the lower kv ultimate and all was well.

Ventilation looks like a culprit too. Looking at the canopy it wraps pretty tight round the frame and there is no cut outs!? Airflow under that canopy will be minimal that wont help things.

That is not on a 7HV though. Gearing might be different on that to any of my helis
which gov function setting are you using? Reason I ask is I changed from SET RPM to GOV HIGH tonight and that has stopped my esc from cutting?

Interesting. I use the Vbar gov. Which i found to be much better than the Castle. Not sure of the specifics of the settings as my techy mate does my set ups

ok no worries, although it seems to have solved the problem, it doesn't hold the headspeed as well in this mode so if I cant sort that I have a phase sensor so might give the v bar gov a try

I would if i were you Much more accurate and generally performs better overall than the Castle. Huge improvement for the six or seven quid the sensor will cost you... if you can find one. Fast Lad stock them now though..... Just noticed you said you have one happy days Get it fitted
