  • Canopy repair

    Hi all

I've noticed that I'm starting to get a few minor nicks on my canopy, one in particular is where the frame bolts is pushing through from the inside and is causing the outside to crack/chip.

Did a search on Fastlads for canopy repair but no hits.

Just wondered if anyone has a solutlion to reinforce the affected areas?

    Thanks

I used a fibre glass repair kit I bought at a car parts shop. It worked a treat to reinforce my goblin canopy.

Not all fiberglass is suitable fiberglass. To get a good repair you need to ascertain what the canopy is made of polyester or epoxy. If you use the wrong stuff like the polyester( car stuff) it will crack as usually it is too brittle. I have found Home | Bucks Composites to supply a complete range of composite products to repair almost anything.
Hope that helps. Too many carbonglass slope soarer repairs.

A lot of people I know keep their old crashed canopies, then cut them up for panels and patches to reinforce canopies that are starting the fatigue.

                      Thanks for all the replies.

It seems to be quite a simple process. Just a shame that you tend to leave it until the damage has occurred before trying to do something about it.

Next new canopy I get I'll be reinforcing it straight away. I've not got a spare canopy for this model.

Like the nail varnish idea but I don't think I'll take my canopy to Boots Ron in case the men in white coats come after me :-) thanks for the tip.
