  • calling the tech guys.

i dont have a problem but i am not sure why the following happened.
I decided to change the bearings on my 450dfc and all went well. i noticed after the rebuild that the tracking had gone out ( about a 4-5mm gap in mid flight)

Anyway it still flew fine for my hovering etc but i was not sure why it had gone out.
Today i had a brain wave (rare) and wondered if i had swapped the blades so i swapped them over and bingo, the tracking was perfect again.

The thing is i am not sure what the reason is and wondered if their was a simple answer like blade balance etc.
Does anyone have the probable answer?

    Cheers

When a fault goes away there are a few possibilities. It could be that the blades are different or it could be that you get slightly different results each time you mount the blades. You can either investigate or fly. Swapping the blades sounds a good thing to try if there is a tracking issue.

Yes it was a bit of a strange one. i realised eventually that that was the only other thing i may have done and sure enough they tracked perfect.

Was curious as to the physics behind such a situation.

Are they definitely symmetrical?? I bought a S/H pair of "FBL" blades and they weren't
Or maybe you had one on upside down hahaha.

          this is common
not all blades are a perfect match that can be swopped from side to side and stay in track

the first thing to do on a model if a new set of blades will not track is to swop them over in the grips

Have you balanced them? I've noticed that some blades I've had track perfectly yet they have a 2-3 gram weight differnce (talking 450 blades here).

I'd guess manufacturing tolerances of blades and grips..
Grip plus half a degree and blade minus half a degree = perfect.
Swap them and you are one degree out on each blade....
